Preparing for installation

Before installing Endpoint protection, we recommend that you uninstall any existing anti-malware or Internet security software from your device, as this may interfere with the operation of Endpoint Protection.

Endpoint Protection can automatically detect and remove most popular anti-malware tools; however, this isn't always possible due to anti-tamper mechanisms included in some products.

Running the installation

  1. Once the .dmg file is downloaded, locate it on your device and double-click to open it.

  2. You will see the SetupDownloader, double-click to open it, and the package will continue to download, and the installation process will begin.

  3. Before the installation begins, you will be prompted to enter your device password for authentication.

  4. Once the screen displays Installation Complete!, the software is successfully installed on your Mac.

  5. If the screen displays Installation Failed, please reach out to us using the chat bubble in the bottom right corner for technical support!

Configuring full functionality

Depending on your version of Mac OS, you may need to make a few changes to ensure the software functions optimally.

  1. Open the Endpoint tool by accessing your Launchpad and searching for Endpoint

  2. Check the status at the top of the tool. If it states Your Mac is safe the installation is complete, and you can proceed to run a full scan.

  3. However, if it states You are at risk, View Issues further configuration is required.

Enabling full disk access

  1. Click on View Issues in the Endpoint tool.

  2. It may prompt you to manually enable full disk access. If so, click on the Open Files button.

  3. A Finder window will open, displaying the AVP directory. Make note of the three items displayed in the screenshot below (BDLDeamon x2 & Defense.comEndpointSecurity).

  4. Click on the Open Privacy button to open your system preferences for full disk access.

  5. In the System Preferences window, click the plus icon (+) in the bottom left.

  6. Enter your password when prompted and navigate to the AVP directory /Library/EndpointProtection/AVP/product/bin opened in the previous step.

  7. Select the three items displayed earlier using the cmd key to select multiple items.

  8. Ensure the toggle switch for these items is set to active and close the System Preferences window.

Full disk access troubleshooting

If you are running Mac OS Ventura 13.5.2, you may need to follow these steps to ensure Full Disk Access is configured correctly.

  1. Open System Settings on your Mac and navigate to Privacy & Security.

  2. In the Privacy & Security menu, select Full Disk Access and remove BDLDaemon from the list by clicking on the minus (-) sign. Disabling it alone won't resolve the issue.

  3. After deleting BDLDaemon, it will automatically reappear as the operating system detects it, but it will remain disabled. To enable it, simply toggle the on/off switch and wait for 60-70 seconds.

  4. Congratulations! Your full disk access should now be properly configured.

Further configuration

Upon installation, you may be asked by your device to complete the following actions:

  1. Run an update to ensure Antivirus Signatures are up-to-date, click Update now.

  2. Allow BDLDeamon to add proxy configurations, click Allow

  3. Allow the SecurityNetworkInstallerApp to load, open the Privacy & Security tab in your Mac's System Settings and click Allow.

Verifying Configuration

To verify the changes, quit the Endpoint tool by pressing cmd+q and reopen it via Launchpad.

You should now be greeted with the following screen and be able to run a full scan.

And that's it! You've successfully installed and configured Endpoint Protection for MacOS. πŸŽ‰
