Understanding Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to your Defense.com account by requiring two forms of identification: your password and a unique code generated by an authentication app.

Choosing the Right Authentication App

To set up 2FA on Defense.com, we recommend using Google Authenticator. This app is available for both iOS and Android devices and provides a seamless and secure experience. You can easily find this in your device's app store.

Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication

Upon the initial configuration of your Defense.com account, you will be prompted to scan and set up your 2FA. This is a requirement of the user account set up. If you are having trouble finding the QR code or your invite has expired, feel free to reach out to the team using the red chat bubble in the bottom right of the screen.

Scanning the QR Code

Open your chosen authentication app and select the option to scan a QR code. Point your device's camera at the QR code displayed on the Defense.com screen. The app will capture the code and generate a unique 6-digit code for you.

Verifying the Code

Enter the 6-digit code generated by the authentication app into the Authentication code field on the Defense.com screen. Click on the Verify code button to confirm the code. This step ensures that the authentication app is correctly linked to your Defense.com account.

Safeguarding Your Recovery Codes

After verifying the code, Defense.com will provide you with a set of recovery codes. These codes act as a backup in case you lose access to your authentication app. It is crucial to store these codes securely, such as in a password manager or a safe location. Remember, losing your device without these recovery codes may result in difficulties accessing your account.

Completing the Setup

Congratulations! You have successfully set up two-factor authentication on Defense.com. Click on the "Continue" button to proceed. You will now be directed to the Defense.com dashboard, where you can explore the various features and functionalities available to you.

Remember to keep your authentication app handy, as it will be required every time you log in. If you have any further questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out to our support team via the red chat bubble in the bottom right corner of your screen.
