How to Find Your Windows Operating System (OS) Build Number or Version

Finding Your OS Build Number or Version

For Windows Users

Using System Information

1. Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialogue.

2. Type msinfo32 and press Enter.

3. In the System Information window, look for the "OS Name" and "Version" fields. The version number will include the build number in parentheses.

Using Command Prompt

1. Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialogue.

2. Type cmd and press Enter to open Command Prompt.

3. Type ver and press Enter. The OS version and build number will be displayed.

Using Settings

1. Click on the Start Menu and then Settings (gear icon).

2. Navigate to System > About.

3. Under Windows Specifications, you will find the Edition, Version, and OS Build.
